The Roman emperors built their palaces on the Palatine, which became the residential town inhabited by the Roman Aristocracy. The ancient ruins of the Palaces belonging to Augustus, Tiberius and Domitian are still standing. The word “Palace” comes from the Latin word “Palatium”, which originates from the Palatino.

The remains of the Imperial Palaces are surrounded by green and from the hill you can have a great view of the whole archaeological area below.
