Project Description

Piazza del Quirinale

Piazza del Quirinale is located on top of the Quirinal hill and is surrounded by the imposing façade of the Quirinal Palace, which is the official residence of the President of Italy.

At the centre of the square you can see the gigantic group of statues of the Dioscuri Fountain. It dates back to the Imperial age and originates from the Constantine Baths. It represents the twins Castore and Polluce, holding their horses’ reins. In the same group, there is an obelisk, which belonged to the Mausoleum of Augustus.

The terrace situated in the square offers a beautiful view of the city.

On the opposite side of the presidential residence, you can find the Quirinal Stables and it is here that internationally known exhibitions often take place.

If you take a short stroll to 23, Via del Quirinale, you can also admire the splendid Church of San Carlo at the Four Fountains, considered one of the masterpieces of Baroque architecture and created by Francesco Borromini.
