Project Description

Piazza Barberini

Piazza Barberini owes its name to the Barberini Palace. The palace, which overlooks the square, was finished in 1625.

The Triton Fountain, one of the most beautiful in Rome and designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1643, sits in the centre of the square.

The piazza is well- known, especially thanks to its connection to Via Veneto. This street is known all over the world because it appears in La Dolce Vita, directed by Federico Fellini. Considered one of the most famous films in the history of cinema, Fellini is universally recognized as one of the most important and influential film artists in the international history of cinema.

In 17, Via XX Settembre, not too far from the square, there is the Baroque church of Santa Maria Della Vittoria; the main attraction here is the spectacular sculpture in marble and golden bronze of the Transverberation or Ecstasy of Saint Teresa of Avila. It’s considered unanimously if not the most, one of the best, statuesque masterpieces by Bernini.
