Project Description

The Roman Forum

In Roman civilization, the forum was the official meeting place for citizens belonging to every part of the Republic or, later on, the Empire. It was used to participate, or simply to assist, at political, administrative and economic affairs concerning the community they belonged to.

The most important and monumental forum was, of course, the Roman one, which was the centre of the world known at the time. It was uninterruptedly used for over a thousand years and its marbles were walked on by emperors, senators and great men of the past, making it a witness to unrepeatable historical events.

This relatively small area had in fact a fundamental importance in the history of man. It was the heart of the most important society of ancient times, and it is from the forum that our culture, our way of speaking, thinking, writing and applying laws originate.
